Thomas - A23 --------- VanSickle - A24 |
New Jersey tried to kill us. See South Philadelphia / Clarksboro KOA for the first part of the trip.
DAY 1 - Travel day. It took us about 6 hours to travel to the campground from New Jersey. Josh doesn't remember most of it, he passed out after camp was setup. Josh, Jeani, Ellie, and Kevin all went to the falls and watched the light show and saw the fireworks. Josh got the women a front row seat and was very happy to see their happy faces afterwards. The campsites are the premium sites and have a concrete pad, patio furniture and landscaping! It wasn't packed in our area, but the rest of the camp was packed! The camp was very clean and nice and it had a decent size dog run with a picnic table and park bench for pet parents.
DAY 2 - Everyone went to the Niagara Falls statepark and rode the Maid of the Mist, then afterwards viewed the falls from the American side observation platforms. We then went did the Cave of the Winds tour with Maria even through her knees are hurting her. We finally did the Trolley tour to Goat Island and the Three Sisters Islands, which is a walking path with bridges to all three islands where we saw a snake sunning itself!
DAY 3 - Drove to Lake Ontario and toured around the Old Fort Niagara. We could see Toronto from the fort and Josh was amazed. We all then dipped our feet into the lake and decided it was a bit icky.Afterwards we went back to Niagara Falls and Terrapin Point to see the Horseshoe Falls. It was very misty and wet but still super fun! We then tried to go shopping but most of the shops all sold the same tchotchkies. Hard Rock Cafe was closed due to the global CrowdStrike software outage.
DAY 4 - Josh contacted the vet to get the proper paperwork for the dogs to cross the border. Drove to Lake Erie, Woodlawn Beach State Park and went swimming. Josh, Kevin, and Ellie all went in the water and swam. After the swim we went back to the campground to relax and get ready for the trip home.
DAY 5 - Travel day home via Canada. The Thomas's were home in 4 hours (1pm) whereas the VanSickles had to go around Lake Erie since Kevin doesn't have an Enhanced License. This total trip took us through 5 states and 2 countries. Also, the border crossing guards did not even ask about the dogs!! |
