Site was very grassy and lush, nice. The campground on the other hand, not so much. The lake/pond, was nothing better
than a retention pond. The water was very murky and mucky. We rented kayaks and they were either cracked or downright broken. Same with the paddles.
It was basically a first come, first serve when grabbing a kayak or canoe. You paid for it in the main office, then walked back to the "beach" to get a
kayak, if they have one, and paddle, if they have one. The water had a funny smell to it also. Joey, Ellie, Josh, and Kevin got up early one morning to fish.
Joey and Kevin were the only ones to catch anything, a few small bluegills. The pool area was recently redone, but quite badly! They had a liner in an
in-ground pool! It was wrinkled on the bottom and loosly tethered at the top. The "beach" had a very steep drop off only about 10 feet from shore. Joey swam
with Alex, while Ellie stayed on shore. Josh celebrated his birthday at camp. The Brooks's and Emily came up to celebrate. They have a nice boardwalk over
the "water" and a really nice gazebo. That's about all I'm gonna say about this camp. |

This is the former Lake Huron Campground and our trip information can be found here.
10/15 - Drove up in a light rain and setup in drizzle. Temps in the mid 50s and slightly breezy. The rangers told us to power into our site because the ground was saturated and soft. Rain continued overnight, Thomass brought in their awning. Amy was told to close her Lido deck awning.
10/16 - woke to find Amys Lido deck awning on the ground and Jays canopy collapsed. The guys all went to Jay's sporting club to shoot their guns for the day. Joey had a great time.
10/17 - While packing up, Josh watched a huge diesel truck almost bury itself trying to get out of the site. Many campsites looked destroyed with deep ruts and puddles of standing water. Broke camp to go home, winterize and store the camper for another year! |
