The overall feel of this park was pleasant. The sites sucked ass! It was a gravel covered, SUPER un-even area that we had to park the campers in. The tiny grassy area each site had was barely big enough to setup our canopies in! The fire rings were situated in such a way that you couldn't put chairs on one side or you might slide down the hillside!
7/16 - The Thomas's hiked the Poconos Heritage Trail behind the campground. We saw a waterfall and the remnants of house in the woods. Pretty cool hike. Everyone else just hung around camp.
7/17 - The Thomas's and Alex all went to Scranton, PA and went to the Scout store, and Tuck's Army/Navy store. Joey got a new knife. We made a half hearted effort to find a place from The Office. No luck. Matt, Jay, and Brandon took the ATVs at Lost Trails while Josh, Kevin, Joey Angyal went with all of the women folk on a winery tour. A fast moving thunderstorm rolled through at the last winery. One of the winery's had an on site pizzieria while another winery had pretzels. Amy stole a bunch. The guys had a great time and are excited to go back.
7/18 - The Thomas's and Kevin and Maria hiked the Tobyhanna State Park Lake Trail and it was 5 miles long!! There was bear scat on the trail and Joey found a tiny frog and Jeani saw an orange salamander on the trail. Matt and Jay smoked the ribs all day!
7/19 - The Thomas's and the Sicken's went to the Poconos Mountain Adventure Park/Resort. Josh and Ellie did the 4000' Zip Flyer and the Pocono Pipeline. Joey, Jeani, Matt, Amy, and Alex all did the Segway Mountain Tour, the Mountain Coaster and The Pocono Pipeine. Kevin and Maria did the Intro Segway rides, she totally looked like Dr. Nefario from Despicable Me! Josh and Ellie got to walk through the Waterpark and then rode a long chair lift to get to the top of the mountain. It was cool! Joey wiped out a little on the way down the pipeline and got some road rash on his shoulder and knee.
Josh, Matt, Jay, Brandon, and Kevin all golfed at Mt. Airy Golf Resort. Very picturesque and fun. Too humid though.
7/20 - Jay, Matt, and Brandon rented a Uhaul truck to take the 2 quads and Razor to Lost Trails ATV park with Brandon's New GoPro Camera. Some highlites are the Bears Den, Mud Pit, Stairway to Heaven and a long hand carved tunnel. Jay almost sunk his ATV and Matt had to pull him out. Josh, Joey, Ellie, Maria and Kevin hiked the Big Pocono Mountain State Park North Trail for 4 miles instead of the posted 1 mile. They brought Sophie and Max along. They drank all of their water and drinks before they finished and the humidity was terrible! Maria had a tough time due to the severe elevation changes and the slate terrain. Jeani, Amy, Alex, Jackie, and Big Joey all went to New York City. A thunderstorm rolled through while everyone else was trying to cook dinner at camp.
The New Yorkers finally came back around 12:30am.
7/21 - The girls and Josh went to the Outlet Mall and got Joey his Steven Universe backpack and some t-shirts. The kids went swimming at the pool and we all went out to eat at the Smugglers Cove. Joey had the tilapia, it was ok. Kevin had a lobster that almost caused Josh and Ellie to puke. The Angyal's and the Lewton's went to New York City. |
