Great park, site wasn't very shaded and there was no grass to speak of, the poor dogs had nothing but hard rocks
and gravel to sit/lay on. Our site was right across the street from the pool, which we couldn't quite figure out if it was salt water or chlorinated!
The camp has very steep roads and sites, we could see the top of Grandma's camper from our front door! The camp also has a some sites with patios
and wooden swings, Amy had one and it was nice. There was a mile long trail for the campers to use, which Josh, the Angyal's and Andrea did. The
bath house was really nice, for a campground, even the ladies agreed!
David, Andrea and the girls also joined us for this trip partway through! It was very enjoyable to have them along!!
As for activities on this trip, well, we did them all! We hiked at Conkle's Hollow, Ash Cave, Cedar Falls, Old Man's Cave, Cantwell Cliffs and the Rockhouse! Grandma was pretty well exhausted!
We also canoed down the Hocking River, while most everyone
else were in kayaks, Ellie and Joey were in their own, but Ellie hated it. She claimed that the kayak was broken because it couldn't steer straight!
Jake and Kevin were in a canoe as was Josh and Jeani.
David, Kevin, Jeani and Josh all went on the Grandma Gatewood Trail for a SUPER Hike, 6-7 miles
that stretch from Ash Cave, through Cedar Falls, and then on to Old Man's Cave! It took them over 3.5 hours to complete, while Andrea ran it from Old Man's
Cave to Ash Cave in about 1.5 hrs. We did meet her on the trail to say Hi! One of the last things that we did was spend some time at the World Class Rope
Course and ATV rental. Meh. The kids liked the ropes course, Amy, Jeani, Alex, Joey, and Ellie all went on it while Matt, Jake, Brandon, Big Joey all went
on the ATV's. Josh watched and photographed safely from below! Overall it was a pretty relaxing and enjoyable trip. We also spent some time in the
completely thorough and extensive pencil sharpener museum! Sicken's were on site ##, VanSickle's were on site 43, and Angyal's were on site 44.
I should mention that this was the last trip for Grandma's Camper and Grandpa's Trailblazer. There was an incident on the way home and we will remember both fondly. |
