Newberry KOA Trips

This campgound was sold in 2019 and renamed to the Newberry Campground, but when we
stayed here last in 2016, it was the Newberry KOA and was rated as such. We have not been back
since the camp was renamed.

Good camp, lots of hills and some tight spots when turning. Mini-golf and bikes for rental are available. Very dry and dusty campground. Not much to do in the area except a bear zoo of sorts and Tahquamenon Falls is close by. Soo Ste. Marie is about an hour and a half away.
NOTES=Sickens, VanSickles, and Thomas went on this trip.

Decent site this time, lots of grass and plenty of room to move. Grandma and Kevin were camped next to us, with Amy, Matt and Alex the next site down, and finally Jay, Kelley, and Megan next behind a small stand of trees. David, Andrea and the girls also stayed in Grandma's new camper. Her and Kevin purchased a 2004 Minnie Winnie Class C! Very nice and clean, but it did need some work before the trip. The outdoor pool area was new and the indoor pool was gone. Not many KOA staff around, but they were very good at bringing firewood to the site. We spent a day in Munising on a boat viewing the Pictured Rocks lakeshore, then we saw 3 waterfalls, Munising Falls, Alger Falls, and Wagner Falls. We spent a day at Tahquamenon Falls, hiking from the upper falls to the lower falls. Just the Thomas's participated on the hike. The Thomas's went to the Newberry Logging Museum and the kids completed a scavenger hunt then after they went to Oswald's Bear Ranch. It started storming so we cut it short. The Thomas's then took a day to go to Historic Fayette State Park, and stop in Manistique. The kids had a great time, hiking, and playing with 19th century toys (stilts, hoop and stick, and ball and cup)! The Thomas's also took some time one day to go to Whitefish Point and attempt swimming in Lake Superior. Brrr!! The water temperature and the biting flies drove them back! Josh brought the bin of Perler Beads, they were a big hit with all of the kids, and even some of the adults! John and Tracey came up with their quad, while Brandon, Joe, and Sara came up too. They all stayed in a local motel. The guys took some time to play a round of golf at the Newberry Country Club, very nice course, challenging, and hilly! It sprinkled a bit while they golfed, but it was still fun! Overall, we all had a good time, and had some really good weather.
NOTES=Sickens, VanSickles, and Thomas went on this trip.
